When Tying the Knot Knows No Gender
During worship at Metropolitan Community Church in Cubao on our trip last June, we didn't expect that one of Manila Bulletin's finest writers Monch Misagal was on the quest to write an article about love and marriage beyond gender.
As you know the Philippines is strongly Catholic, and same sex unions are looked frownly upon. (Note: We don't have anything against the Catholic religion, we are Catholics too who try to live decently.) Ironically, though there are a lot of gays and lesbians (celebrity or not...), the moment you put marriage into the equation, you'll be faced with a wave of anti-gay marriages/ unions. Surprisingly, though there are anti-gay groups, you just rejoice in the fact that there are still those who believe in that same union, that same love. Their voices aren't loud, but each word of support, love and encouragement go a long way.
We present to you two sides of the story - be open and informed.
